Get A Buz

Technology has brought us so far and coupling them together can bring some pretty innovative new things to our world. One of these things is GetABuz, a voiceplayer for your webpage, blog, MySpace, or Facebook. It is exactly like a voicemail, except it works on the Internet and uses a microphone or a cell phone to record and listen to messages online. To spice up your messages, you can make voice greetings with music that is preloaded on the website or you can upload your own. Either way, the music is free the very first time and costs around 50 cents to use in another message. The only way you can get free background music is if you refer a friend. One friend referral equals a free song.

To listen to messages left by visitors to your website, you can either go to your page, or you can listen to them via your cell phone if you choose. Friends can also send messages from there phone to your page and be optionally sent to your cell phone straight away.
The Voice Messager is absolutely free and you can customize it almost any way you like including the colour and picture. This is all put into HTML and is then very easy to put on your page. Finally you go back to GetaBuz and personalize your greeting to welcome your visitors everytime they come to your page with your favourite music and a clip of your own voice. No need to copy a new code, it's all automated which saves a whole lot of time.
For Canada the cell phone service won't be available but hopefully it's in the works. US carriers that can use the sites cell phone service include: Virgin, T-Mobile, AT&T, Sprint and Verizon. To get more information go to GetaBuz.

Denon ASD-3W: iPod Dock

I hate iPod owners because of all the accessories they have available to them but this one gets me the most. I've always wanted an easy way to connect my mp3 player to a large stereo system so I could blast it in my home. Denon has come up with a solution only for iPod owners called the Denon ASD-3W for $230 plus wireless and the ASD-3N for $180 which is the wired version. Now don't get confused as I did. Wireless in this case only means it can wirelessly connect to your computer, not the stereo. Either way you need to wire your dock to the stereo using RCA cables. The only benefit of connecting it to your PC is to stream live online radio through your speakers which to me is not worth $50. Both models include a remote and they only support iPod video and Nano. The great thing about the remote is that it will then show controls on the TV instead of the small iPod screen. You can also view pictures and video from your iPod onto your giant TV screen. It overall is still something basic and is not anything spectacular and personally I wouldn't spend $180 on it. A good price range would be $40-$70 but that's just me.

Smorty

I know this doesn't relate to technology at first but once you kind of get into it, it does have a hint of technology. First it's an automated website where you sign up either as a blogger or advertiser and once your blog is accepted or your advertising account is approved you will be able to take offers from there. They are a creative bunch, whoever run this site because of the way it is set up. It is unlike most paid to post websites, as there aren't many places to go which means they are concentrating on getting advertisers to bloggers and they also make posting as clear as day. The biggest added benefit is the payment process. Within 7 days of writing your blog post, the post will either get approved or rejected and if approved, your payment will arrive via one of the internet's most successful payment processors, PayPal in a matter of weeks. I do recommend Smorty over alot of other paid to post websites because they are a growing website that will make big things in the future.Get paid for blogging at Smorty.

Microsoft is Picking Another Fight

Microsoft is yet again trying to expand and this time they are mostly competing with Google. Specifically they are rolling out a version of Google Docs called Microsoft Office Live Workspace that is currently in public beta. I have signed up but it hasn't accepted any members yet.

A requirement you do need is a microsoft email account such as MSN, Hotmail, Live, etc. Microsoft Live Office Workspace though does not match up to Google Docs as it can't produce documents from scratch; it can only share, edit, and store documents online. There is much to go on improving Office Workspace which is why it is currently in public beta. To sign up, go to Microsoft Office Live.

Get Ultimate on Premium for Free

Most Vista users opted for Home Premium and you should be patting yourself on the back for it because now you can get some features on Premium that are on Ultimate all for free. Most of them don't appeal to me but I'm not like most people so hopefully they appeal to all you readers. The three features are: Image backup, shadow-copy, and VirtualPC.
Image Backup
The Ultimate version automatically lets you make images that exactly replicate a disk byte by byte letting you easily restore a failed disk with the OS, settings, and files running as they did when they were running perfectly. There are 4 options for a replacement ranging from free-$50. Noron offers Save & Retore for $50, Acronis offers True Image for $29, and Discwizard or MaxBlast for free only if you have a Seagate or Maxtor drive which sadly I don't have. Another alternative is DriveImage XML which isn't the best but it'll do the job.
Shadow-Copy Files
The Ultimate version automatically backs up different versions of all the files you save so you can easily find it even after you've deleted the other copy. To replicate this software on Home Premium, a piece of free software called FileHamster will easily duplicate Ultimate's program. After saving a file, FileHamster will ask you to annotate(tag) the duplicated verion and optionally protect it from deletion.
VirtualPC
VirtualPC is offered by Microsoft for free which is surprising because they don't offer this on Home Premium. A Virtual PC is when you run one operating system behind another although you can run the same operating system if you like. You would download this because you might not be sure of a program so you run it in the virtual OS so your real PC won't get messed up or say when you browse the internet because tons of viruses and spam happen there.
If you don't have another OS then I recommend going to VMwares website and downloading VMware Player which is free and works like VirtualPC. The reason why this is better is because the site offers virtual OS usually for free. These aren't completely full versions of OS like for example there is one called DSL which stands for Damn Small Linux. To find these Operating Systems you need to go back to the home page of VMware.
